Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights for Nintendo 3DS by Konami

With the newly announced 3DS title “Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights” comes new details about the game as well as a newly launched official Japanese website (http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/lautrec/).

We know that we can expect to see the game sometime in Spring 2011 in Japan, and comparisons are already being made to the Professor Layton series – due to Lautrec’s top hat, young companion, and love of mysteries.

The game will be set in 19th century Paris and will have players controlling archaeologist Doctor Lautrec along with his young assistant, Sophie, who is a university student. Together they search for treasure in and around mystery-filled undergrounds of the city.

Gameplay will apparently consist of four basic types: Event, Battle, Exploration, and Conversation. Exploration will take place on the top screen of the 3DS, with a map displayed on the bottom screen. Not much is known about the other gameplay types, but the Conversation and Event components seemingly make use of full voice.
