The Sims 3 should be hitting the Nintendo 3DS in time for launch, or at least in the general time frame. We’re now getting a look at the North American boxart as well some details about the game.

  • Create any Sim you can imagine and control their lives.
  • Control multiple Sims within your household and enjoy life’s special moments as you interact with their world.
  • Use the 3DS camera to capture your likeness and create your Sim.
  • Use your stylus to sculpt your Sims’ facial features. Choose their hair styles and clothing and dictate their personalities.
  • Through Nintendo StreetPass, trade your Sims with your 3DS friends!
  • Travel to different zones with your Sim! These zones will be unique destinations for your Sims and will contain community features and buildable lots.
  • Wield the ultimate control over your Sims by interacting directly with the 3DS handheld. Blow into the handheld to unleash tranquil butterflies on your Sims or shake to trigger an earthquake. It depends on how many Karma Points you have.

According to andriasang, Famitsu.com has now posted previews of My Garden and The Sims 3. Here are some of the details:

The Sims 3

3DS hardware shows off 3D recreation of the sims in the top screen, while the bottom screen shows an area map. The face, skin, clothing, personality, life goal and other features of the sims can be edited to your liking. When you give your sims directions, they let you know how they are feeling by “Moodlet” icons, which say “I want to sleep” or “I want to take a bath.” You can change your sims’ lives using Karma Power. Shaking the 3DS can cause money to fall from the sky, but too much shaking will cause an earthquake. The camera can take pictures to create a sim that looks like you. Additional hair styles and clothes, etc., can be downloaded by Wi-Fi. Street Pass can also be used to exchange sims. This game is scheduled for a Spring release.

My Garden

The tanuki guide’s name is Ponta and he will help you create the most beautiful garden in the world. By shaking the system, insects will go away and by whistling into the mic you will attract birds. The 3DS’s touch screen will show a full map which will help to position objects in your garden. The camera is used in the “photo challenge” events where you will be able to take a photo of your garden. This, too, is scheduled to come out in the Spring.

A few small pieces of info have come out about The Sims 3 for 3DS, including that we might see the game launch alongside the system. Considering EA has already announced that The Sims 3 for 3DS is set for 2011, throw this on the pile of evidence that the system won’t release this year.

There is word of a feature that will allow you to take a 3D photograph of yourself and transfer it to your Sim. EA is also looking into online connectivity for the game.
