News has it that EA’s planned Nintendo 3DS game, My Garden, has now been canceled.

This information was announced at an event that took place in New York.

EA was quoted as saying:

“EA has decided to cancel Gardens for the Nintendo 3DS. We didn’t feel the title would attract a large audience on that platform. EA is supporting the launch of the Nintendo 3DS with Spring releases of Madden NFL and The Sims.”

Many reviews have not been favorable with this title, so probably not many gamers will be too disappoint about this news.

According to andriasang, has now posted previews of My Garden and The Sims 3. Here are some of the details:

The Sims 3

3DS hardware shows off 3D recreation of the sims in the top screen, while the bottom screen shows an area map. The face, skin, clothing, personality, life goal and other features of the sims can be edited to your liking. When you give your sims directions, they let you know how they are feeling by “Moodlet” icons, which say “I want to sleep” or “I want to take a bath.” You can change your sims’ lives using Karma Power. Shaking the 3DS can cause money to fall from the sky, but too much shaking will cause an earthquake. The camera can take pictures to create a sim that looks like you. Additional hair styles and clothes, etc., can be downloaded by Wi-Fi. Street Pass can also be used to exchange sims. This game is scheduled for a Spring release.

The tanuki guide’s name is Ponta and he will help you create the most beautiful garden in the world. By shaking the system, insects will go away and by whistling into the mic you will attract birds. The 3DS’s touch screen will show a full map which will help to position objects in your garden. The camera is used in the “photo challenge” events where you will be able to take a photo of your garden. This, too, is scheduled to come out in the Spring.

According to a report on Joystiq, My Garden for the 3DS has failed to impress. Described in the article as “simple”, “lacking personality,” and “lifeless,” this game does not sound too promising. The graphics, showing poor quality in 3D, was experienced in 2D, which defeats the purpose of playing it on the Nintendo 3DS.

Maybe My Garden will please some gamers who like a slow-paced game, but it is still too soon to tell what the end result will actually look like. All we can do is wait and see what other reactions we get from gamers who try it out.

We found out earlier about EA’s first new IP for the Nintendo 3DS called “My Garden”. Check out the video below to take a look at their developer presentation from the Tokyo Game Show.

Earlier today EA had the release date for their upcoming 3DS title “My Garden” listed as Spring 2011. We now happened to notice that this date has been updated on the game’s website to ‘TBD’.

Hmm… is it possible that EA let the Spring 2011 date out of the bag a little early for Nintendo’s liking? It wasn’t long after the news about this date made the rounds that people started figuring out this could also point to the launch time frame from the 3DS system itself – since the game is being pegged as a launch title. Next thing you know, the game’s release date is updated to “To Be Determined” status. Things sure are getting interesting leading up to September 29th!

From the Tokyo Game Show comes the news of a new game for the Nintendo 3DS – My Garden from Electronic Arts. Since it is being listed as a launch title, we’ll have to wait to hear when the release date will be.

My Garden represents a garden simulator where players can design their own garden, selecting from hundreds of plants and decorations. It will feature 6 unique environments including a desert and jungle. The built-in 3DS camera can take photos of the creations and the 3DS microphone can be used to whistle bird calls.

Garden expert Tanuki, a cute Japanese character, will help players become garden specialists and help make their gardens thrive.

Rod Humble, executive vice president of the EA Play label, is quoted as saying,

“With My Garden, our aim was simple: to make something beautiful that comes to life on the Nintendo 3DS like no other platform. We hope to offer a game that’s so immersive that it truly brings the delight of owning a garden to life through a visually stunning 3D experience.”

Overall, this appears to be a promising game that will make good use of the great graphic features of the new 3DS. I can see this game attracting people of all ages to pick it up alongside the 3DS when it launches.
