The North American site for Dead or Alive: Dimensions has gone live. It’s pretty bare at the moment, but I would expect it to be updated shortly with more information on the game – perhaps even a release date.

Eurogamer obtained more info about Dead or Alive: Dimensions from Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi. Apparently, Samus Aran will not be playable in this 3DS game.

Here are some of the comments:

“The concept of this game is basically to create the best version of Dead or Alive. Actually for the Metroid collaboration, we had help from Nintendo and they’re really friendly with us. But the concept of Dead or Alive as the best version of the game means Samus Aran or Metroid is something different. That’s why we are not focusing on that in terms of the concept. So talking about Samus Aran, is she playable or not? This time she’s not playable. But Samus Aran will be shown in the game. She comes to help the player. That’s the collaboration shown there [in the trailer]. But how you can unlock Samus Aran? Please find out by yourself.”

Some new video has popped up from Dead or Alive: Dimensions for Nintendo 3DS. This is definitely one of the more impressive looking games for the system so far. Check it out:

In a recent Famitsu article, it is being reported that while playing Dead or Alive: Dimensions in 2D mode, the game will run at 60 FPS. However while playing with 3D turned on, the framerate will drop to 30 FPS. Whether this type of framerate difference will be standard for games running in 2D vs. 3D is unknown, but it could end up being the norm due to the need for twice as many frames to display 3D effects.
