Itsunoma ni Tsuushin: When the 3DS is in sleep mode, the system will automatically seek out Nintendo Zone and wireless LAN access points and will grab information, game data, free games, videos and other things from the internet. The name, incidentally, translates to something along the lines of “Wireless Communication When You Weren’t Expecting It.”

Functionality For Use Without Leaving Games: Home Menu, Internet Browser, Notice List

Transfer Over Software and Data: You’ll be able to transfer your already purchased download software to 3DS. This includes DSi Ware games from DSi and DSi LL.
Backwards Compatible: In addition to playing games made for 3DS, the system can also play DSi and DS games.
Parental Controls: You can set play restrictions based off game ratings. You can also limit browser use and other areas. Parental Controls have been improved from the DSi versions.
We get the news from Joystiq that we will be able to transfer downloaded software from one Nintendo 3DS to another. It will also be possible to transfer our DSiWare titles over to the 3DS too – this is great news!
The number of transfers will be limited, but this will be a lot better than what is available now.

At Nintendo’s Japanese press conference tonight, they announced that when the 3DS goes on sale in February, it will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. Seeing as how these two colors have been used in most of the press available up to this point, these two colors make the most sense.
Aqua Blue

Cosmo Black

Nintendo has announced that the 3DS will go on sale in the US and Europe in March 2011. No exact date or price was given, but with the announced Japanese price translating to just under $300, I’d say a $299 price point is likely.

It’s finally official. After months of speculation and countless rumors, Nintendo has announced that the 3DS will go on sale in Japan on February 26, 2011 at a price of 25000Y.
That price point translates to just under $300 US.

More news from Nintendo’s press conference that deserves its own story: The 3DS will include a virtual console which will support Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and Classic games in 3D! This is great news for fans of older handheld classics, and to have them available in 3D will be a huge draw for gamers.
Games shown during the conference were Link’s Awakening DX and Super Mario Land. I can hardly wait to see what these will look like!

Photos from Nintendo’s press conference are popping up everywhere! One would assume that pictures of the device that are being shown at the conference are of the final design. Here’s a first look. At first glance it doesn’t appear that there are too many differences, but the Slide Pad does look like it’s perhaps made of rubber now.
We’re also given a look at the stylus, which looks to be a sleeker version of what we’re used to.
On Eurogamer, Digital Foundry takes the specs for the Nintendo 3DS that leaked out yesterday to the next level, dissecting each hardware component to give us an idea of the power behind it. According to the report, although not 100% sure of the accuracy of these features, the likelihood of them being accurate is fairly high.
Here’s a quote from the article:
First things first, let’s address the plausibility of the source. IGN has a reputation for outing notoriously secretive Nintendo specs and in its previous stories on DS and Wii, history has proven them to be entirely correct. With a track record like that, it would be unwise to bet against the veracity of this story assuming it comes from the same source.
