An article of note coming from Infendo gives an interesting perspective on the pricing of the 3DS. Rumors have been circulating that prices anywhere from $129 up to $300 will be the initial cost. But a more realistic middle-of-the road pricing ($179 to $199) hopefully will be more in tuned with Nintendo’s track record.

Would fans be loyal if it turned out to be a high priced handheld? Some would, I’m sure, but on the whole, Nintendo may lose out on a lot of gamers who essentially cannot afford it. A higher priced unit may mean higher priced games too. Nintendo, being in this market for years, knows that it needs to keep customers happy for a dependable following.
