An interesting article on GoNintendo gives us a viewpoint on how Virtual Boy games should get a chance to resurface for the 3DS device. Although Virtual Boy didn’t turn out to be a success, the games are worthy enough to be winners on the new system. Here is an excerpt from the report:

“Time to finally forget all about the debacle of the Virtual Boy, right? In many ways I would agree, but there’s one aspect of the VB that I think should be remembered. In my opinion, I think the entire Virtual Boy software lineup deserves to get ported over to the 3DS. The Virtual Boy was Nintendo’s first foray into the land of 3D, and while the outcome may not have been what consumers wanted, there’s no denying that the visual presentation and gameplay actually worked.

While we were only looking at games in black and red, there’s definitely a 3D effect at play. When I set up my old VB a few weeks back, I was still impressed by the 3D effect. It truly is a 3D gaming experience, even those the output isn’t nearly as good as what the 3DS does. That doesn’t matter to me though. I can fire up my Virtual Boy and still manage to gasp at some of the effects that I see. It makes me realize how the tech could have stood a chance, but the color scheme and bulky platform itself helped lead to its death.”
