Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs is on its way to the Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo-Online spoke with Firehazard Studio’s Chris Straub about the project. It looks like the game will be an on-rails shooter peppered with a good amount of storytelling complete with cutscenes. It sounds as if they’re getting some good results from the system’s 3D effects as well.

An interview snippet:

CS: The game will be an “on-rails” shooter, similar to “Sin and Punishment 2” for the Wii, with lots of dialogues and cutscenes during and after missions. April navigates Ramrod as long as the Star Sheriffs are on their way and is providing them with useful information. The game will feature some intense action and represent the story impressively. Thereby we are clearly focussing on core gamers, nevertheless with extensive modes and options the game will be very interesting for casual gamers as well. Because of this genre we are able to create overwhelming 3D effects through the 3D screen.
