We’ll file this one as an obvious rumor for now, but multiple outlets are reporting that a Japanese product designer has tweeted the following:

“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”

Now it’s really hard to say that one Twitter message should be taken with anything but a grain of salt, however it is interesting to note that the message has since been removed and replaced with another less detailed one:

“OIRA is designed to place 20 11 11 3DS product will be released simultaneously for the product.”

The tweeter in question apparently works for a company called Keysfactory, which manufactures accessories like screen guards and cases for the Nintendo DS. What the original message appears to be saying is that his company’s new 3DS line of accessories will be released on November 20th, simultaneously with the Nintendo 3DS.

Could an accessory designer really know the official launch date for the 3DS? I’d say it’s certainly in the realm of possibility, especially if they’re working closely with Nintendo to coordinate their launch to ensure they have product ready when the device releases. The date also lands on a Saturday, which is the day Nintendo released the Wii and DSi in Japan as well – both of those also hit stores in the November and December months of their respective years.

It’s only a couple of weeks now until the world knows when to expect the 3DS, but it will be interesting to see if this early leak was actually accurate!
